At 4 1/2 miles the Shelford fishery is the longest stretch of River under the control of the Association. Roach, Large Bream and Barbel are the predominant species although it is known that some large Carp are also present. The type of fishing varies from fast water below Stoke Weir to wide, slow flowing sections at Hamms Bridge. Being owned by the Crown Estate very strict rules regarding access are in place. The Two major access points are at Stoke Ferry Lane End and Hamms Bridge each having a large car park requiring a N.A.A. Key. The only other access point is just upstream of Gunthorpe Bridge, however, Car parking is very limited.

Under no circumstances must any other gate or fence be used for access.

This Fishery is now Members Only, No Day Tickets. No Night Fishing. Closed Season 15th March to 15th June Inclusive.
